Sort Your Freezer

One of the most important things about summer is keeping cool, a great way to keep cool and regulate your temperature is to consume ice pops! If you don’t have room in your freezer then you won’t be able to enjoy these lovely summer treats. Summer is the perfect time to sort your freezer and de-ice it if necessary. There are two ways you can do this, you can do it naturally by turning your freezer off after removing all the food. You can also take all the drawers out, sort through them, and then use a hairdryer to quickly melt the build-up of ice.

Light Furnishings

There are many things you can do to welcome the summer into your home. If you still have all your winter furnishings throughout your home, now is the time to put them away. You want to get rid of anything that attracts heat, this is anything thick or dark colored such as rugs and curtains. Instead, swap them out for lighter, brighter accessories. You can get heat repelling curtains if you look in the right places. Add some color to your home by swapping out the candles for freshly cut flowers. You can pop them in vases dotted around your home to give an instant summer feel.

HVAC Maintenance

Summer means there may be a lot of heat entering your home. You can dispel this heat and manage the temperature in your home with the help of your HVAC system. If you are lucky enough to have one of these systems throughout your home then you will need to regularly maintain it. This helps it live longer as any repairs will be spotted right away. Before you use it for the summer months it is recommended that you take advantage of an HVAC cleaning and restoration service on your air conditioning. This will ensure it keeps ticking over for years to come.

Go Fly Free

Finally, there is one problem aside from the heat in summer, that’s the flies. Flies and other insects can be a real nuisance during the warmer summer months. Having your windows and doors open means it’s a free for all on the insect front. The good news is there are ways to keep these pests out of your home for good. Meaning you can enjoy that fresh flow of air by leaving your doors and windows open. One humane way of keeping the flying insects at bay is the coins in water trick. Fill a food bag three-quarters full with water, place four or five copper coins in the bag then hang it up by the window or door. You don’t just have to stop at one, place them at every opening. The coins react with the water and create an optical illusion that will repel the flies from coming in.
